We have a variety of different classes in order to gain access to our tools and spaces, and learn new skills.

Safety & Orientation Classes
Our Safety & Orientation classes review basic safety and proper operation of each tool area, and are required for tool access regardless of previous experience. After taking these classes, students have the option to sign up for membership or become a drop-in user of the space.

Introduction to Slip Casting Workshop
Discover the art and technique of slip casting in this three-week ceramics workshop. Designed for enthusiasts and beginners alike, this course will guide you through the process of creating intricate ceramic forms from start to finish.
Students will be required to bring an object to the class that they would like to replicate and cast. Students also have the option of making their own positives in advance of the class after taking 3D Printing 101 or 3D Printing 102.
By the end of the workshop, you will have created your own plaster mold which can be reused multiple times, and a couple of unique ceramic pieces made from the plaster casting. Join us and unlock your creativity through the transformative art of slip casting in ceramics!

Ceramic Carving and Surface Design
In this three-hour class, we will explore carving and under glazing in ceramics and learn sgraffito, inlay, and stenciling techniques. We will prepare a plate for you, and you may decorate it any way you choose, resulting in a piece not only unique to you, but functional!
Please come with an idea or image and we will help you bring it to life. Pieces will be ready within the month, and you will be notified for pick up.

Sushi Set Workshop
Looking for a fun night out? Join us for a unique ceramics experience using handbuilding techniques to make your very own sushi set.
During this class, you will be guided through the process of handbuilding and sculpting your own sushi tray, soy sauce dish, and chopstick holders. Once your pieces are complete, they will be fired and glazed, leaving you with a beautiful and functional sushi set that is completely one-of-a-kind.
Whether you're a seasoned ceramics artist or a complete beginner, our instructors will make sure you feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire process. So grab a friend or two, and come spend an evening getting creative.

Crafting with Cricut
Join us for an exciting introductory Cricut workshop where we will delve into the world of precision cutting and explore the versatility of vinyl and cardstock with Cricut machines. From intricate designs to personalized decals, this workshop offers hands-on experience to unleash your imagination.
Participants will navigate through the necessary basics of Cricut Design Space and learn essential techniques for cutting, weeding, and applying vinyl, while also mastering the art of intricate cardstock creations.
This workshop is geared towards beginners with Cricut and anyone interested to learn. You do not need to own a Cricut to participate and all necessary materials are included. At the end you will walk away with two customized projects - a Stencil-cut bookmark cut out of cardstock, and a vinyl design transferred onto a clear acrylic keychain.

Playing with Alcohol Inks Paint Night
Take your creativity to the next level with alcohol inks with friends, on a date night, or as a fun night for yourself.
Alcohol inks are a beautiful and unpredictable medium that can create stunning abstract paintings. You will be guided hands on how to create different effects and how to use tools to manipulate the inks.
This fun and interactive class is perfect for all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned artists. No prior painting experience is necessary, and all materials and wine will be provided for you.
Along with a fun evening out, you will take home two 6"x6" tiles and one 4"x8" yupo creation.

Paint Pouring Night
Create beautiful, one-of-a-kind art pieces using the popular technique of paint pouring. Our experienced instructor will guide you through the process, providing tips and tricks to help you achieve stunning results.
This class is perfect for couples looking for a unique and memorable date night activity or for groups of friends looking to unwind and have some fun.
All materials are provided, including canvases, paints, and pouring supplies. No experience is necessary, and our instructor will be there every step of the way to ensure that you feel confident and successful in your creation.

Ceramics Social
Are you looking for a creative way to unwind after work? Spend some time nurturing your artistic side!
Join our drop-in pottery class and discover the joy of working with clay, take a break from your busy day, and tap into your creative side. Come alone or bring your coworkers along for an after work adventure that will provide a quick escape from the stresses of the day.
This class is a bit of a taster of what can be done in MakerLabs’ Ceramics Lab, and is open to all levels of experience. If you’ve wanted to try wheel throwing or hand building, get a quick intro with the guidance of an instructor and make a piece of pottery.

Cutting Board Workshop
In this beginner woodworking class students will build a cutting board that is 10" x 14", made out maple and walnut. Participants will learn some basic woodworking skills and walk away with a simple and attractive cutting board that is ready to use at home. At the end of the workshop, students can laser engrave a small design on their board.

Policies
Cancellation Policy
Refunds, credits for future classes and orientations, or transferring a ticket to a future date, will only be provided if we are notified by email to hello@makerlabs.com at least 24 hours in advance of the class. For cancellation less than 24 hours before the class, we do not provide a refund, but we do offer a 50% credit towards a future class or orientation. No refunds or credits will be provided for no shows. If transferring a ticket to a future class date, students may only transfer their ticket once before forfeiting their original ticket, even if providing more than 24 hours notice.
Late Policy
We ask that all students arrive 15 minutes before the schedule start of the class so that it can start on time. Attendees arriving more than 5 minutes late will not be allowed in the class.
Age Policy
Children 13 to 17 years old can attend classes with a participating adult. Children must be accompanied by an adult that is trained to use the tools if they wish to use any tools, workshops, and/or spaces after the class.
Want to Run a Workshop at MakerLabs?
We do a 50/50 split of profits between members and MakerLabs for any classes that members run using our tools and spaces. MakerLabs will handle all the promotion and administration of the class as well.
