We have a variety of different classes in order to gain access to our tools and spaces, and learn new skills.

Safety & Orientation Classes
Our Safety & Orientation classes review basic safety and proper operation of each tool area, and are required for tool access regardless of previous experience. After taking these classes, students have the option to sign up for membership or become a drop-in user of the space.

Ceramics Workshops
Ceramic Carving and Surface Design
In this three-hour class, we will explore carving and under glazing in ceramics and learn sgraffito, inlay, and stenciling techniques. We will prepare a plate for you, and you may decorate it any way you choose, resulting in a piece not only unique to you, but functional!
Please come with an idea or image and we will help you bring it to life. Pieces will be ready within the month, and you will be notified for pick up.

Sushi Set Workshop
Looking for a fun night out? Join us for a unique ceramics experience using handbuilding techniques to make your very own sushi set.
During this class, you will be guided through the process of handbuilding and sculpting your own sushi tray, soy sauce dish, and chopstick holders. Once your pieces are complete, they will be fired and glazed, leaving you with a beautiful and functional sushi set that is completely one-of-a-kind.
Whether you're a seasoned ceramics artist or a complete beginner, our instructors will make sure you feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire process. So grab a friend or two, and come spend an evening getting creative.

Woodworking Workshops
Introduction to Woodworking with Epoxy: Coasters
This course is for beginners who wish to learn basic woodworking and epoxy usage skills. The knowledge and steps covered in this course can be applied to any future projects of varying scales that combine wood and epoxy.
During the process, each student will create a set of 4 epoxy and wood combination coasters.

Cutting Board Workshop
In this beginner woodworking class students will build a cutting board that is 10" x 14", made out maple and walnut. Participants will learn some basic woodworking skills and walk away with a simple and attractive cutting board that is ready to use at home. At the end of the workshop, students can laser engrave a small design on their board.

Honeycombination: How to Bee a Woodworker
Learn basics of woodworking in our hands-on project based class. We'll guide you step-by-step to build your own wooden hexagon box with a lid.
You'll combine reclaimed wood to build a lid both beautiful and eco-friendly. In this woodworking class, you'll get to use real tools like table saw sleds, a miter saw, and an orbital sander. We'll teach you how to safely operate each one. Perfect for beginners or those looking to sharpen their skills. No experience needed, just bring your enthusiasm!

Introduction to Jig-Making
This class is for aspiring carpenters/makers who want to know more about how to use jigs. This is a fairly basic class as jig making is an art form and can only be mastered through experience. Students will leave this class with the basic knowledge of what is possible, a direction to begin with, and a desire to try and advance their experience with jig making.
The observations expressed in this class are those from a production woodshop environment that focused on commercial and entertainment construction. Quick, easy, and one off. These lessons can be applied to any form of fabrication.

Introduction to Woodworking with Epoxy: Charcuterie Board
This course is for beginners who wish to learn basic woodworking and epoxy usage skills. The knowledge and steps covered in this course can be applied to any future projects of varying scales that combine wood and epoxy.

Planter Box Workshop
Discover the joy of woodworking in this hands-on, entry-level class! You'll craft a beautiful cedar planter box while learning essential skills with the mitre saw, drill, and table saw.
Along the way, you'll explore how to choose the right materials for your project and gain confidence in working with angles on a table saw.
Perfect for beginners, this class is designed for those with little to no woodworking experience who want to complete a simple yet rewarding project.

Artisan Workshops
Crafting with Cricut
Join us for an exciting introductory Cricut workshop where we will delve into the world of precision cutting and explore the versatility of vinyl and cardstock with Cricut machines. From intricate designs to personalized decals, this workshop offers hands-on experience to unleash your imagination.
Participants will navigate through the necessary basics of Cricut Design Space and learn essential techniques for cutting, weeding, and applying vinyl, while also mastering the art of intricate cardstock creations.
This workshop is geared towards beginners with Cricut and anyone interested to learn. You do not need to own a Cricut to participate and all necessary materials are included. At the end you will walk away with two customized projects - a Stencil-cut bookmark cut out of cardstock, and a vinyl design transferred onto a clear acrylic keychain.

Introduction to Silicone Mold Making
Learn how to make a 1-part mold using Smooth-On silicone. Included in this course is general silicone knowledge, how to build your mold walls, silicone mixing and pouring techniques for bubble-free molds, and jewelers cuts for tall molds.
Students will need to bring an object to be molded that has at least 1 flat side and is no bigger than 2"x2"x2", with no empty spaces that go all the way through the object. This object CANNOT be made of silicone or latex.

Metalworking Workshops
Build Your Own Rocket Stove
In this hands-on class, you'll make your very own rocket stove from mild steel.
You'll learn the physics behind rocket stoves, fibre laser cutting, and metal assembly.
Students will also have the opportunity to personalize their stove with a custom laser-engraved design. Whether you're a DIY enthusiast, camper, or outdoor cook, this workshop will equip you with a durable rocket stove to take home along with a bundle of starter wood.
No prior experience is necessary - just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

Policies
Cancellation Policy
Refunds, credits for future classes and orientations, or transferring a ticket to a future date, will only be provided if we are notified by email to hello@makerlabs.com at least 24 hours in advance of the class. For cancellation less than 24 hours before the class, we do not provide a refund, but we do offer a 50% credit towards a future class or orientation. No refunds or credits will be provided for no shows. If transferring a ticket to a future class date, students may only transfer their ticket once before forfeiting their original ticket, even if providing more than 24 hours notice.
Late Policy
We ask that all students arrive 15 minutes before the schedule start of the class so that it can start on time. Attendees arriving more than 5 minutes late will not be allowed in the class.
Age Policy
Children 13 to 17 years old can attend classes with a participating adult. Children must be accompanied by an adult that is trained to use the tools if they wish to use any tools, workshops, and/or spaces after the class.
Want to Run a Workshop at MakerLabs?
We do a 50/50 split of profits between members and MakerLabs for any classes that members run using our tools and spaces. MakerLabs will handle all the promotion and administration of the class as well.
