FABRICATION MANAGER
MakerLabs is looking for a permanent, full-time Fabrication Manager / CNC Machine Operator to help design and bring project ideas to life, while overseeing the Fabrication team. We are a fast paced shop, with an emphasis on automated production, rather than design.
The successful candidate will handle customer inquiries and quotes, utilize 2D and 3D computer aided design (CAD) programs, operate laser cutters and other computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining tools, woodworking tools, and metalworking tools to complete client projects.
Prior experience in at least a few of these areas is required. We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude, who is self motivated that can be trained on all of our tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage projects and the fabrication team to make sure jobs are completed on time and within budgets
- Determine customers requirements, brainstorm creative and efficient methods to meet them
- Quote on projects
- Plan around customer needs, control ambiguity and unforeseen changes
- Create and work with 2D and 3D designs
- Design for and operate digital fabrication machines such as the CNC router and laser cutter, as well as traditional power and hand tools
- Delegate tasks to team members
- Be involved in the hiring process and training of new fabricators
Minimum Qualifications:
A passion for making and maker culture
Minimum 5 years experience in a relevant role
Knowledge of 2D vector drawing applications and 3D modelling programs
Basic knowledge of power tools
Have a minimum typing speed of 60 wpm.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Possess a constant desire to learn, improve, and optimize everything
Must have proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to be flexible and work both independently and in a team.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Has a valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time. Hours are generally 10am to 7pm, but may vary depending on client needs, with the occasional longer work days. Any hours worked outside of a regularly scheduled shift will fall under an averaging agreement.
Starting Wage: $60,000 to $65,000 / year. This is a salaried position.
