Community Co-Ordinator
MakerLabs is seeking a part-time Community Co-ordinator to join our team. This role helps to oversee the day-to-day operations of our maker space, and encompasses all reception related activities at the MakerLabs front desk. We're looking for someone to support the day to day operations of the space and its teams, including shipping and receiving, client communication, tool lending, and customer service. The ideal candidate would bring their own experience to the team while growing and strengthening the overall vision of MakerLabs.
Under the direction of the Community Manager, the community team co-ordinates membership, studio spaces, and communal facilities (called 'Labs'). The day-to-day duties are administrative tasks including answering emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries. Some basic facilities tasks are also the responsibility of the community team including cleaning, organizing, and COVID-19 sanitation rounds. This position requires someone who is able to engage the public and membership on a day to day basis, and lead tours of the building, while being efficient and motivated. We encourage staff to develop and work on passion projects with the tools that they have access to. Weekends and occasional extended work hours are required to meet the needs of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Answer phone calls and in person inquiries
Build and maintain relationships with our members
Know all of MakerLabs' policies and procedures
Process payments related to membership, fabrication, rentals, orientations, and materials
Co-ordinate membership and studio accounts
Process shipping and receiving (lift up to 40lbs)
Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed
Co-ordinate shipping and receiving, inventory, storage, and waste stream services
Assist members with troubleshooting the laser cutter and answer basic digital fabrication questions
Maintain the organization and availability of the Labs and its tools
Minimum Qualifications:
12 - 9pm availability, Thursday to Saturday
Computer literate, can adapt to new software systems quickly
Minimum typing speed of 50wpm
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Proven ability to stay calm in stressful situations
Must be self-motivated, a fast learner who takes initiative
Possess a constant desire to learn, improve, and optimize everything
Strong sense of situational awareness
Strong organization skills with attention to detail
Assets:
Experience working at a Maker Space or community based organization
